The long and lively existence of the Mughrabi Quarter is almost unknown, especially to visitors to the Western Wall. The idea for the Mughrabi Quarter Virtual Archive was conceived in order to digitally reconstruct the destroyed neighborhood as the pilot project for a larger-scale digital mapping initiative, the Virtual Illés Relief Initiative.
The project has involved the collaboration of many wonderful Palestinians, a generous sharing of documentation (including the oral testimonies), and a remarkable team of professionals who worked to create this website.
